The Challenge
Have you ever opened a new website and been asked to accept the site's use of cookies? Of course you have!

This minor irritation may be going away in the next few years, which is great for just about everyone. For digital advertisers, however, it's a major challenge.

In 2020, Google announced that they will be deprecating 3rd party cookie support in Chrome. For a tech company that's part of the digital advertising ecosystem, it's crucial that customer-facing teams are knowledgable and level-headed when answering customer questions about such a major industry shift.
My team was tasked with training reps on this complex topic.

-
Impact
Our 3pc training program was completed by 98% of customer-facing employees in our business unit. To complete the training, reps needed to record themselves explaining:
-
3pc deprecation.
-
How 3pc deprecation impacted the company.
-
What the company was doing about it.
-
Advice for customers on how to prepare for deprecation.
Managers had to score and approve their reps' submissions. After the training, reps reported being better informed on the technical aspects of deprecation and confident having customer conversations.

Finally, reps left the program with a 3pc Talking Points sheet to refer to when having customer conversations. This sheet was a welcome addition to the rep toolkit, and was updated as changes came to deprecation and the company's future-proofing activities.
